The district of columbia also have lower Income Home ownership tax Exemption Program.  In order to qualify, your income must fall under the household income limits against all person(s) in the household. The purchase price of the property shall not exceed $479,066.00.

This program provides an exemption from the DC 1.1% (or 1.45% depending on the purchase price) Recordation Tax and an allowable credit from the seller(s) of 1.1% (or 1.45% depending on the purchase price) equal to the DC Transfer Tax. The program also provides a five-year real estate tax abatement that begins October 1 following your date of closing.
